THE PSYCHOBIOLOGY OF EARLY ATTACHMENT (Learn the reason behind “Mommy brain”)
Jessica Sorci, LMFT, Founder and Clinical Director of Family Tree Wellness in Los Gatos, will be at Harmony this March to offer a valuable workshop about psychological changes in early motherhood and why really good moms so often get anxious and depressed. This class is open to everyone who wishes to better understand the emotional landscape of new motherhood and how biology, culture and innovative treatment methods are all so impactful during this time. This workshop is ideal for anyone already working with prenatal and postpartum moms like doulas, massage therapists and yoga teachers and any new mamas or mamas-to-be and their partners.
PELVIC FLOOR WORKSHOP
Susan McCormick, Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher, has been practicing yoga for the past 20 years and teaching since 2008. She completed her Iyengar certification and studies regularly with senior Iyengar teacher Manouso Manos. Interest in strengthening her pelvic floor to avoid surgery led her to seek out experts in the fields of physical therapy and pelvic floor yoga. She received teacher training and certification to teach pelvic floor work from Leslie Howard and was an instructor for UCSF’s study on incontinence and yoga. Empowering women who are struggling with the effects of pelvic floor dysfunction is important to her and evident in her gentle but firm manner of teaching.

In Harmony Prenatal Teacher Training is a registered school of yoga that offers a 85 hour Prenatal Yoga Certification with Yoga Alliance after completing both modules in their entirety followed by these requirements:
1) 10 hours of teaching : During the training every student gets a chance to teach a good portion of these hours, the rest need to happen AFTER taking both modules. Every student has to teach a full prenatal yoga class observed by either Nanci or Lorena. At harmony we offer monthly community classes so that every student gets to teach one full class for final certification.

The major two reasons leaded me to take a prenatal teacher training are that I want to know about pregnancy before I am pregnant. The other reason was to help pregnant yoga students because I had seen many pregnant women coming to regular vinyasa yoga classes without the consideration about their own bodies. In order to reach the goals, I need to get trained with a proper training program.
As a result, I found the right one provided from Harmony birth & family. I learned a lot from the talented and supportive teachers, Nanci and Lorena, and expected mothers. I heard so many positive birth stories, learned how yoga practice could help your birth and which yoga postures should be avoided during pregnancy and also studied surprising women’s anatomical body changes during pregnancy.
The knowledge I got from the training is really practical. Now, I am not only a certified PRYT but also a teacher who can make her own sequences for a prenatal class and give useful advice to pregnant women. The time that I had at Harmony birth & family was such a precious gift for me.
Comprehensive, practical and spiritual. I've been teaching prenatal for years and enjoyed the chance to go even deeper. Lorena and Nanci's training is more than just the asanas and was just what I was looking for as a seasoned teacher. Perfect for anyone wanting to gain a deeper understanding of the pre/post natal body.
As a woman and now a mother, I have to say that attending Nanci & Lorena's Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training has really provided me with SO MANY opportunities for growth!
Their teacher training is so comprehensive with so much information on both therapeutic applications of yoga and the spiritual practices of yoga. They have a carefully curated program with so much information on anatomy and physiology specifically pertaining to the mother-figure and baby/babies as well as open up discussions up to the home and offer up broader perspectives on parenthood. The also bring in amazing guest speakers that are all experts in their respective fields.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to dive-in and get to know both Nanci and Lorena more as they continue with their teacher training. They are experienced, educated, and the real deal. Taking their training and certification has really touched my life personally as well as influenced a lot of my yoga instruction not only to perinatal yogis but has really affected the way I share yoga as well.
Thank you thank you thank you for providing a teacher training that is so needed!
We are so lucky to have this training offered in the South Bay! Top notch information from two incredibly knowledgeable teachers! I had been teaching prenatal yoga for 5 years and had gone through 2 prenatal teacher training intensives before I took this training. I cannot emphasize enough how much I learned from Lorena and Nanci! They truly weave their wisdom of the body, yoga, pregnancy, and the emotional and mental components into a full offering for fellow teachers.
